The University District Market 5/16/09

Hey, this is Dylan here from Loki Fish.

I’ll be using this blog to keep our customers and friends updated about current happenings at the farmers markets, both with our business and with other vendors bringing great products to the market.  I’ll also be highlighting questions I receive at the market that I think people might be interested in hearing the answers to, as well as sharing links, stories and whatever else I can drum up that is fish-related.

Right now we are gearing up for our summer Alaska season.  Jonah and Ben are busy working on the nets for the Loki, Pete is teaching at Seattle Central Community College, Hing is working on getting the office ever organized, and me, well I’m staying pretty busy managing the markets and wholesale accounts.

The boats are leaving the 17th of June to head north, and will be fishing 3-4 days and then sending their catch down fresh as soon as they hit Ketchikan. That means our first weekend for fresh fish at the market will be (tentatively) June 27th-28th.

We will be at our farmers markets the next month with a range of flash-frozen, smoked and other value-added salmon products, so come visit and say hi!

Stay tuned and check back often for more updates…I will be trying to make this at least a weekly ritual, whether or not we are in the fresh season.
